Plus "a genocide"? "Do a genocide" seems the same as "do a cartwheel". Surely "commit an act of genocide". It seems to be far too big a thing to do like something you would do after work is finished.

Perhaps I'm just being pedantic but the chosen language seems to belittle the horror of it all.

I sometimes annoy the more pedantic of my colleagues when I move forward too quickly in projects. They care about validating every little detail, do every possible control. But I care more about systemic patterns - even if some of the details are inaccurate, the patterns are real.
